On Location / Deira & Bur Dubai

The magic is everywhere in Deira. And not just in the old world charm that peppers this little district of Dubai. There is magic in the haphazard style and joyful chaos –  and we took pleas ure in it all. All cultures come together so beautifully in this little community.  Dating back to the 1700s, it developed along the canal and its location facilitated sea trade. Over time as traders settled it became a commercial hub and still is in some ways as you can watch for hours  traditional dhow boats which still load and unload hundreds of tons of goods on the canal docks every day. Today, teeming with character and centuries- old history, it’s the perfect place to hunt for antiques, handwoven rugs from Iran or Afghanistan, get spices from India, buy gold and jewellery, or get the best traditional Arabic perfumes. The beauty in the unpredictability of it all, makes it perhaps our favourite place in Dubai.
